Mid and East Antrim Borough Council Businesses Set to Enjoy The Taste of Northern Ireland at Inaugural WorldHost Food Ambassador Training Programme delivered by Watson & Co. Chartered Marketing at Hastings Ballygally Castle Hotel

Mid and East Antrim Borough Council in association with Tourism NI, are offering an opportunity for frontline staff in the local tourism industry to take part in a globally accredited and recognised WorldHost training course. Delivered by Watson & Co. Chartered Marketing the WorldHost Food NI Ambassador programme, tailored for the local hospitality sector, will take place on 21 February 2017, from 9.30am to 3pm, in Ballygally Castle Hotel.

The programme will give participants the skills to deliver a warm and friendly welcome to customers and visitors and is particularly focused on their role as an Ambassador for their local area. The bespoke programme presents a golden opportunity for frontline staff to develop their skills and knowledge by providing simple and effective ideas to take back to the workplace. It will also highlight all that is happening in our growing food and drink industry to help inspire local businesses with new ideas.

With an established focus on food provenance the Ballygally Castle Hotel, part of the wider Hastings hotel group, is an ideal setting for the programme as the menus in the hotel have a strong emphasis on ‘field to fork’ and are backed by a philosophy to serve high quality food, working closely with local suppliers.

The WorldHost Food Ambassador programme is a practical customer service tool, where trainees will literally eat and drink themselves to a better understanding of local Northern Ireland produce. Moving through 2017, this training will enable tourism and hospitality businesses to build on the success of the Year of Food and Drink in 2016 and make investment in people skills a lasting legacy within the industry.

The Mid and East Antrim Borough Council area covers the main towns of Larne, Carrickfergus and Ballymena as well as Carnlough, Glenarm, Ballygally, Islandmagee, Whitehead, Greenisland, Kells and Portglenone.
