Call for local marketing practitioners to get ahead and stay ahead with Chartered Marketer status

CIM Stormont JC13MARKETERS must be at the top of their game to keep pace with the ever-changing business environment, the Ireland Chair of the Chartered Institute of Marketing has said

Christine Watson, a Chartered Marketer since 2006, called on marketing professionals to register for Chartered Marketer status to support professionalism across the trade as well as industry standing across the economy.

She said: “Marketing is a highly skilled area which demands that individuals keep up with the latest innovations in global marketing in order to deliver maximum value to the organisation that they represent.

“The best way to ensure marketing professionals are regarded as competent is by embracing the opportunity to achieve Chartered Marketer status.

“This prestigious title is recognition that a qualified marketer is continuing to develop their depth of understanding and ongoing effectiveness as a marketing practitioner by showing commitment to acquiring knowledge about the latest trends in what is in effect a never-ending skills development journey.”

Chartered Marketer status is the sign of a qualified marketer who has shown commitment to keeping up-to-date by completing at least two years consecutive Continuous Professional Development of at least 35 hours per annum.

Chartered Marketers continue 35 hours CPD per annum as long as they wish to retain Chartered status.

Ms Watson added: “In November, to launch Marketing Month 2014, we will be honouring all of our Chartered Marketers from across Ireland. Each of these practicing marketers will have shown a true commitment to their profession with the determination to develop their skills and knowledge throughout their careers.”

The CIM CPD programme works towards the organisation’s Chartered Marketer status – the only organisation with authority to award this status in recognition of professional excellence.

Richard Houdmont, CIM Network Manager (Ireland) said: “CPD improves your effectiveness and demonstrates your commitment to professionalism.

“It allows you to track your progress and receive recognition for your achievements, helping to increase confidence and giving you additional credibility as a professional marketer. So it’s a great way of standing out from the crowd in a competitive job market too”.
