WorldHost poetry by Linen Hall Library Graduate: Deborah Douglas

When Nicola Bothwell of NB Chartered Marketing and Christine Watson of Watson & Co. Chartered Marketing won the PR contract for Funeral Services Northern Ireland, part of the Co-operative Group a sensitive marketing challenge began. One of the key recommendations from our initial PR audit was the launch of a National Poetry Competition and www.fsni-nationalpoetrycomp.co.uk was born

The competition launches for a fifth year in 2016 and has successfully engaged hundreds of poets and thousands of recital attendees – from the crafting of poems to simply sitting back and enjoying poetry right across the 19 regional funeral home locations in Northern Ireland.

During our WorldHost Principles of Customer Service and Northern Ireland Ambassador – Welcoming Visitors to their Destination training delivery for Linen Hall library a brief mention of the poetry competition whet the appetite of one delegate in particular – Deborah Douglas. Deborah was inspired to pen a quick poem during the course lunch break and here is her poem below:

WorldHost poem by Deborah Douglas Linen Hall Library

“WorldHost Training
Even though it’s raining
All around the town
Up and Down
Walking
Talking to the Tourists
Pointing out the Best
That Belfast has to offer
North, South, East and West

We’ve been to all our facilities
We’ve covered lots of ground
Just ask us for Advice
if you want to look around
‘Cos now we are WorldHost Ambassadors
And we’re so committed
We never let you walk Past our Doors”

We are very grateful to our WorldHost Graduate and Northern Ireland Ambassador Deborah for creating and sharing her poem with us and hope you all enjoyed reading it.
